Online Library Services: Welcome Faculty!

An introductory overview of the library's online resources and research help.

The NCC Libraries are here to support faculty in all your endeavors!  Our librarians and staff are available to work and collaborate with faculty in a fully online environment.  We also invite faculty to take advantage of our full array of electronic resources, which are available 24/7.

Online Library Services Faculty FAQs

Q:  Is library instruction available for online classes?

A:  Yes, NCC librarians can schedule synchronous library instruction sessions via Blackboard Collaborate or Zoom.  Request a library class or email askthelibrarian@northampton.edu for more information.

Q:  Are library services available through Blackboard?

A:  Yes, librarians are available to be embedded in online classes to answer questions directly from students through Discussion Board forums. You can request an embedded librarian to work with you and your students throughout your course. Research Tools from the NCC Libraries is also available in your Blackboard shell under the NCC Services tab.

Q:  What other instructional support is available to online faculty?

A:  The library can offer virtual reference services through Blackboard Collaborate and email, as well as video tutorials, research guides, and virtual research appointments by request.

Q:  Will the library help me with my own research?

A:   Yes! Faculty and staff have the same access to our resources and services as students, plus a few more. The librarians will gladly help with any personal or professional research you're working on.

Q:  How do I login to the NCC Online Library from off-campus?

A:   You will be prompted for a username and password to access full-text articles from NCC Library electronic databases and journals.  The username and password combination will be the same that you use to login to "MyNCC".

Q:  What if the library doesn't have what I am looking for?

A:   Articles we don't have full-text access to might be available from another library through interlibrary loan (ILL). Submit an ILL article request here and we will try our best to get the article for you.

Q:  Where are the video tutorials located?

A:   Most are located on the Research Basics Tutorial, however, they are also uploaded to our YouTube channel (NCC Libraries). Click here to go to the YouTube channel.
