Library Databases for Streaming Video

These streaming video databases contain both historic and current documentaries, newsreels, nonfiction television programs, interviews, and more. Access to this content is free for NCC students, faculty, and staff!

 

 

 

 

 

Films on Demand ― Contains film clips and full program episodes from a variety of nonfiction film and television producers, including the BBC, California Newsreel, Films for the Humanities & Sciences, History Channel, Ken Burns, National Geographic, and PBS Video, among others. Fiction and feature films include indie film shorts, classic adventure serials, and foreign-language films with English subtitles. Most films include a text transcript.

Kanopy Streaming -- Contains a selection of documentaries from Media Education Foundation, Kino Lorber, New Day Films, and other production companies.

Finding Movies on Streaming Platforms

There are so many movie and television streaming services, how do you find the film you want to watch? Here are some search tools to get you started. If you need assistance, please reach out to a Librarian! We're happy to help you track down what you need.

JustWatch -- Connects movie fans with their favorite content worldwide. If you choose to use their app, you can be notified when new titles are added to the streaming platform of your choice. Search results show which services offer the film for free.

Pluto --  Films and television shows are available for free, but contain advertisements.

ReelGood -- Browse, search, and watch movies and television shows from more than 300 streaming services. Most titles include a link to the trailer.

Tubi -- Films and television shows are available for free, but contain advertisements.

YouTube's Feature Film channel -- Specializes in vintage films and television series, including classic serials.
